Dr. Fred Gletten is a graduate of Illinois State University and Howard University where he earned his Master’s of Science degree in Microbiology in 1973. He attended Howard University Medical School from 1973-1977, and continued on to Wadsworth VA Hospital Center in Los Angeles to complete his internal medicine internship and residency. Dr. Gletten completed his gastroenterology fellowship at the Sepulveda-San Fernando Valley Program through UCLA Veterans Administration Hospital. He entered private practice in gastroenterology in 1982. He has held various positions as Chief of Gastroenterology Lab at Brotman Memorial Hospital and Los Angeles Doctors Hospital, and he was appointed Chief of Staff for Los Angeles Doctors Hospital from 1985-1986 and 1987-1988. Since 1988, Dr. Gletten has conducted over 50 clinical trials for various pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Gletten currently serves on the faculty as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCLA School of Medicine’s Department of Internal Medicine and Charles Drew Medical School. Dr. Gletten became a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1982 and a Diplomat of the American Board of Gastroenterology in 1984. Dr. Gletten is a member of the American Medical Association, National Medical Association, American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association, and Golden State Medical Association. Dr. Gletten has been with West Gastroenterology Medical Group since 1982.
